The Chios Society of Greater Washington DC area donated $5,000 on Nov. 9, 2024 to the AGAPE Foundation which helps children with medical needs.

Thank you letter from the AGAPE Foundation

Dear Maria Stefanias, Anthie Zairis, and John Costalas,

Hello, my name is Evie Cavros, President of the Children’s Agape Foundation.

I hope this email finds you all well. Please accept a quite belated but most sincere thank you for your Chios Society’s very generous donation to our foundation. I can’t tell you how stunned and excited I was to receive this gift of $5000.00 for the children. 100% of individuals’ and organization’s donations and our fundraising efforts go towards helping Orthodox children and their families that do not have the means to pay outstanding medical bills.
On behalf of the entire Children’s Agape Foundation board, please express our gratitude to all the leaders and each and every member of your society. I know how hard you all must’ve worked to raise these funds, especially with your recent national convention. I congratulate you on your efforts to promote Hellenism and to ensure the lasting legacy of your island’s culture and ideals, and at the same time having a broader outreach to assist those in need. I look forward to seeing you all in the near future and again, my heartfelt appreciation goes out to each of you.

Wishing you and your families a beautiful Christmas, celebrating the Nativity of our Christ, and much health and happiness throughout the New Year 2025!

With gratitude,
Evie Cavros, M.D.

Members of the Chios society of Greater Washington DC donated in 2021 a defibrillator at Agio Georgios Sikousi, Chios.
A defibrillator constantly monitors a patient's heart, similar to a pacemaker.

The contributions collected at our Vasilopita lunch held in the spring of 2022 were given to AmeA who help persons with special needs in Chios, Greece.
